Personally, although it's not really your choices, I've really liked both the Kennan textbook and Rimsky-Korsakov's book on orchestration. I know nothing about the Blatter, so I can't comment on it. Hearing what others mention about his personality, I don't see any reason to give him the business. Honestly, I didn't care for the Adler at all - it was required for my orchestration class, but a lot of stuff seemed inaccurate at best (at least, compared to speaking with peers about their primary instruments).
